LAWRENCEVILLE - Thomas Joe "Buzz" Conley, age 66 of Lawrenceville, died on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Lawrenceville to Roscoe Fields Conley and his wife Wilma Glow (Tredway) Conley.

Buzz was a member of the Church of Christ for many years. After high school, he received an Associates Degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting. Many remember Buzz from his days as a bartender at the Lawrenceville Elks. He was also a former member of the Lawrenceville Eagles. Buzz was a Blues DJ for WVJC and his own radio show, "Capt'n Tom's Blues Cruise," while in California.

He is survived by: his two daughters, Kristin Nola and her husband Christopher of Sterling, Virginia; and Madison Bean and her husband Miles: one grandson; a baby granddaughter on the way; one niece; three nephews; and one sister-in-law, Paula Purcell of Bridgeport.

Preceding him in death were: his parents; and three brothers, Larry Purcell, Jim Purcell and Marion Conley.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the State of Illinois mandates and requirements, all services for Buzz will be private. And according to his wishes, cremation will take place.
