James Robert Mefford, 93
LAWRENCEVILLE - James Robert Mefford, age 93, of Lawrenceville, died on Friday, March 20, 2020 at his residence.

He was born Dec. 31, 1926 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the son of James Ellsworth and Lois Emma (Kensler) Mefford. He married Patsy Jones in 1949, and she survives.

Bob was a postal worker, and served as Lawrenceville Postmaster from 1976 until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrenceville, where he served as Deacon, Chairman of the Board and Trustee. He served in the United States Navy. His memberships include the Kiwanis Club, Elks and American Legion. He served on the Police Pension Fund Board.

Along with his wife Patsy, he is survived by: daughter, Cynthia Schrey and her husband Steve of Olney; son, Randy Mefford of Lawrenceville; half-sister, Patricia Chansler of Abingdon; half-brother, David Mefford and his wife Beverly of Lawrenceville; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be conducted on Wednesday at the Emmons-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home.

Burial will be at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.

Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the state mandates that we are not allowed to open this service to the public. Thank you for your understanding.
