|Farm Bureaus urging farmers, agriculture industry and others to donate surplus masks|

LAWRENCEVILLE - Due to the national pandemic regarding the COVID-19 virus, there is currently a shortage of medical personal protective equipment, specifically N95 masks. The Lawrence County Farm Bureau and the Young Leaders are participating in FARM for Health, which is a movement that stands for Farmers and Ranchers Masks for Health.
"The 'FARM for Health' project was an idea that our Young Leader chairman, Kody Aldrich, brought to the group as a way to help the community," said Paige Langenhorst, Lawrence County Farm Bureau manager.
The group is calling upon farmers, grain elevators, union laborers, construction companies and anyone in an industry where masks are used for PPE, to donate surplus of new/unused masks and any other PPE available.
"Many of our local Lawrence County farmers have found masks at their shops and have donated them," said Langenhorst. "We are so thankful for our community, so many have gone above and beyond to ensure Lawrence County is prepared and protected."
Over 19 other county Farm Bureaus are holding PPE drives across the state and the Young Leaders, "FARM for Health" Facebook page has reached over 100,000 people across the state of Illinois as well as the nation. The group has delivered over 100 of the N95 masks to the Lawrence County Health Department.
To keep everyone safe when delivering PPE items, a box will be located outside the front entrance of the Lawrence County Farm Bureau office, 10722 Cherry Blvd., Lawrenceville. Those wishing to donate can simply open the tote and drop the items in. The items will then be distributed where they are needed the most.
Due to the shelter in place order for the state of Illinois, the Farm Bureau asks that one only gets out to deliver masks if they feel the trip is considered essential travel.
